Hello my lovelies, Here is yet another use or two for the shutter series! Wow who knew I’d have so many uses! If your just getting started with me and missed the other post on shutters click here to get … Continue reading
Well here are more shutters from the neighbors house! If your just catching up with the shutter series click here to see the other post.
Here they are in all their glory, after being washed, sanded somewhat and then painted with a pretty light blue!
Not sure if you know but there are 2 size shutters on a house. One set was a small set and another was a large set. Perfect for a double bed headboard and twin!
Both of these are actually three sets of the shutters to make the whole headboard.
Told ya it was genius! I mean who would of thought headboards could look this good and not be planned! Me that ‘s who! LOL
If you look closely you can see there are 3 slats that are put together with eye hooks and sea rope to form the one big headboard!
To keep up the theme of the room, decided by the boarder, we hung them with nautical cleats. Usually you tie the boat or jet ski’s to these, but they look great and are strong enough to hold real wood, which can be heavy. Yes we also used anchors, as in the wall not anchors from a boat! lol
How cute are they? In between you can see the little table that got a makeover earlier to complete the room!
Again here is the before
Quite the change right!
What do you think? Would your hubby/wife understand your desire to take something off a neighbors house he thinks is trash?
Or would they totally understand you have a vision??
Stay tuned cause believe it or not there is still more projects that use those shutters!
I know, seriously, how many shutters can I possibly have, and how can I think of so many uses for them!!
ADHD , that how! lol
See ya next time!
Hello all you shutter lovers! As I started this series on how to use shutters for home decor, it occurred to me just how many different kinds of shutters there are, as proof you saw that my first ones were … Continue reading
I love a good shutter, whether it’s indoors, outdoors or a shutter door from a closet! I have used so many in my house and been called the shutter woman! I thought it would be fun to share them with you this week!
The first ones are closet doors, that had a panel taken out and a wrought iron piece inserted. I needed some lighting on a very long wall and decided to add a sconce to them. This project was done 2 years ago, before I decided to dedicate a blog to DIY, decor and more. So bare with me on the pictures!
Ok I told you I was not taking pictures for the blog…so here is my attempt at cropping how it looked before I added the lights!
Cute huh??? I fell head over heels in love with these and dreamed of them for 2 weeks and decided I had to have them.
I was lucky enough to have a coupon for 20% off at Outrageous Interiors here in Atlanta. The name really does speak for itself! A great store with unique pieces, but a bit pricey for this DIY’er and thrifty gal, but the 20% off made it doable!
Now keep in mind we have 2 of them and they are on both sides of the couch! I love the light they give off.
I bought $10.00 lights at home depot that were silver and I painted them black. They blend in with the wrought iron and I’m still considering putting something on the shade!
Although… I did find some adorable new lighting, and I mean it when I say cute as a red nose on a reindeer!
Best part is they are only 18.00 each!
But Then I saw these…they are adorable too!
I have also considered going a little shabby chic and romantic!!!
What do you think?? These are so precious and fit in with the shabby chic decor of the house. I’m just not sure of the amount of light they would give off though! But I do love them!
But for right now I love what we have! They are a statement in the room and the first thing people notice after the view of the lake!
They do give off a lot of light which was the main goal!Well these are the first in the shutter series!
Hope you enjoyed looking at them and remember I’d love your opinion on If I should change the lights, and which ones are your favorites or just add trim to the current shade!!
Also don’t forget that you can now follow me and most importantly you can share all this goodness to your FB, twitter and pinterest friends! I appreciate all the love!

I’m so excited today I will be at attending a wonderful conference!
That is how I feel getting to attend Lead & Succeed!
Have you ever seen such a great cast all in one place?? Oh my, I’m in awe!
It’s a time to get rejuvenated, motivated and inspired about all the new things I’m doing in the coming year!
I was asked to attend by my good friend, mentor, instructor, founder and CEO of Work Life Destinations! Life Coaching & Training Academy, Suzanne Rosetti!
Suzanne was my instructor when I became a certified Life Coach and asked me to be a part of her team when she created the BEST coaching programs in the country! Seriously if you are looking for a coaching program, check her school out!
I will also be with my Virtual Assistant, Melanie Davis.
What is a Virtual Assistant you ask, well an assistant that works virtually, only when I found mine, she ended up living just 15 minutes from me!
We are now friends, colleagues and she still does all my “help, I can’t figure this out” go to person!
We all have our favorites that we are looking forward to seeing and hearing what obstacles they have overcome and the tools and encourangment they have gotten to keep them motivated.
How they have moved forward in the direction of their dreams and advice on how we too can live our very best lives!
Melanie has Matt Ryan on 8 of her Fantasy football leagues out of the 9 leagues she is in! Yes, seriously she has 9 fantasy football leagues she is a part of! LOL
I’m excited to just look at Matt Ryan myself! (did I just say that out loud?)I just want to see how tall he is… I hear he looks really tall in person! wink wink
It is just an honor to see Gabrielle Gifford and get to hear her speak. I truly respect her as a person and feel she is remarkable in all that she has had to overcome!
Her husband will also be here and I can imagine his story of being by her side and going through her journey is going to be a great speech, but Let us not forget the person he is on his own! I can’t wait to see what he has to tell us!!
I’m also interested to hear John Walsh! Anyone who has lost a child to murder and turn around and make a mission to save so many, is just amazing in my book!
Needless to say there will be 8 wonderful, talented, gifted and special guest that will be giving us the most inspiring and motivating advice they have to offer!
I’m looking forward to putting some of the advice into action in my life!
I will update later this week all my takeaways!
Have you ever attended a conference with this kind of guest list?
Did you learn anything that you still use to this day???
Please share, as we can always use good tips on being successful, what ever success means to you as an individual!
Until next time,
